DBR Wood Giveaway!
Today, March 27, 216 from 9 am to 6 pm, in partnership with DBR, we did a wood giveaway! We were overwhelmed by the amount of people who showed up wanting to use the scraps and off-cuts of wood we were offering. We got the word out the night before and at 9 am we had a flood of people show up at the wood shop in East Van!
We offered some 2”x4”s, smaller studs, and plywood off-cuts that were grabbed almost immediately.
We also offered a ton of LVL off-cuts from the DBR TedxVancouver structure. These pieces took a little more creativity to be reused because of their less traditional shape, however one innovative DBR student, Bryce Duyvewaardt, has already made a bench and table out of them!
Many more students and community members took scraps to be used in an interesting way. We only hope that we get to see pictures of these final products to share with you! Also given away was the white shrink wrap from the outside of the TedxVancouver structure, to Josephine Lee, a UBC visual arts student who needed it for her final installation, This in/vi/di/indivisible space.
